Accurian Partners with Healthology

  • 16 November 2001

Visitors to Acurian’s clinical trials and related information site will soon be able to access more than 1000 health information programs from Healthology, under a new agreement between the two firms announced this week.

Acurian specialises in accelerating clinical trials for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies by using patient and investigator recruitment solutions. The company’s proprietary databases enable researchers to identify qualified physicians and patients for clinical trials, allowing new therapies to reach the market faster. To date it has helped to accelerate more than 60 trials for 40 companies worldwide.

The tie-in with Healthology will offer an extra service to site visitors who, through the use of streaming media, will gain valuable additional insight on emerging medical treatments from a growing network of 20,000 physicians. The Acurian site has recently been redesigned to include sophisticated search functionality and personalisation options. The site currently reaches 7.5 million health information seekers a month through agreements with top healthcare Web sites.

Acurian says that the Healthology webcasts complement its existing clinical trials offerings which include the Internet’s most extensive listing of enrolling clinical trials, quality editorial contents from sources such as the Johns Hopkins Hospital and a comprehensive drug information database covering existing and emerging treatments.

Acurian CEO, Mark Eisenach, commented, “Our partnership with Healthology reinforces Acurian’s commitment to combining innovative technology with the greatest breadth and depth of quality information relating to emerging treatments. Healthology’s video library augments the clinical trials and treatment information we provide on 215 therapeutic areas in a ways that’s both informative and interesting for the user.”
