Royal Surrey Selects Oasis for Physio

  • 2 September 2002

Royal Surrey Hospitals has awarded Elan Technologies a contract to develop a dedicated information module for the physiotherapy department to integrate it into the hospital electronic patient record system.

The hospital has been using an EPR system supplied by Oasis since 1996. Terms of the deal for the new module were not disclosed.

The physiotherapy module will enable sessions to be booked electronically. Physiotherapy staff must currently manually check several paper diaries to book the set of appointments a patient may need.

Introduction of the physiotherapy module forms part of the trust’s existing booked admissions project — one of the priority areas for NHS modernisation set by the government.

As well as scheduling sessions the new system with provide physiotherapy staff with access to relevant clinical patient data from the Oasis EPR system.

This will help ensure they are aware of any previous injuries treated at the hospital, including visits to A&E.
