- 31 March 2004
IDX Systems Corporation has announced that it had finalised its subcontract agreement with BT to provide clinical information technology systems and services to BT in its role as the London local service provider for the NHS National Programme for IT. BT was awarded a £996 million, 10-year contract by the NHS on 8 December, 2003 to design, deliver and operate integrated local patient record applications and systems for the London region as part of the NPfIT. As LSP for London, BT will design, deliver and operate integrated local patient record applications and systems for the whole London care community. IDX was chosen by BT as its main sub-contractor for the provision of clinical applications for the London LSP contract. IDX has also been chosen by Fujitsu as its main sub-contractor for clinical applications to be delivered by Fujitsu as LSP for the South of England. Fujitsu was awarded a £896 million LSP contract for the South of England on 26 January. Since being awarded the contract almost three months ago BT and its sub-contractor IDX are understood to have been working with the NHS in London and NPfIT to draw up initial implementation plans and work out a detailed timetable for delivery.
