UCLH revamps pathology software

  • 1 February 2005

University College London Hospitals (UCLH) NHS Trust have replaced their legacy anatomic pathology software  with CoPathPlus, a pathology and electronic patient record system manufactured by Misys.

According to Misys, the software can incorporate images into patient reports, provide links to online textbooks and reference databases, and has capability for speech recognition for entering data. The software is HL7 and SNOMED compliant, and Misys says that it can interface with any electronic patient record system.

Ann Hannah, service manager at the cellular pathology department at UCLH, said: “We chose CoPath after a rigorous OJEC selection procedure. We are pleased to be moving forward with a supplier we are confident will meet our needs as we open our new hospital, and implement an EPR system with pathology order communications."

The software also comes with several administrative features, such as quality assurance and management reporting, as well as ‘work lists’. Permanent online storage of historical case data is also provided.

UCLH use the same Misys software elsewhere in other pathology disciplines. Duane Lawrence, general manager of Misys Healthcare systems, said: “We are delighted to further strengthen our relationship with such a long-standing client and important trust as UCLH."
