Cerner wins key Middle East contract

Cerner has won a key Middle East contract after being selected as health IT provider for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates.

After a competitive procurement the General Authority for Health Services for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi selected Cerner as its health information technology provider, to deliver the objective of one electronic medical record (EMR) for each individual. The contract award forms part of the Emirate’s strategy to become a global leader in medical care.

Through the agreement, Cerner will provide its Cerner Millennium clinical solutions to the Authority, under the first phase four hospitals in the Emirate will recieve Cerner’s Millennium EMR system.

By improving the flow of information and enhancing clinician communications, Cerner Millennium solutions will help make the healthcare process safer and more efficient for the population of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

In the first phase of the project Cerner will provide a fully operational EMR system to improve safety, clinician workflow and operational efficiency at four hospitals: Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Tawam Hospital, Al Rahba Hospital and Mafraq Hospital.

“Abu Dhabi is focused on developing healthcare services that result in improved health outcomes,” said Mohammad Butti Al-Qubaisi, general manager, General Authority for Health Services. “By pushing data to our clinicians where they need it most – at the point of care – Cerner’s proven technology will help us enhance the quality of care we provide.”

Cerner has more than 3,900 Cerner Millennium solutions live at nearly 300 sites, in 780 facilities around the world.
