HC2006 showcases health IT developments

Contract wins, new solutions, new versions of existing solutions and survey results will be announced by exhibitors at the Healthcare Computing 2006 show next week.

Some of the highlights promised for the annual Harrogate healthcare IT extravaganza include:

  • GP solutions supplier, In Practice Systems is using HC2006 to announce the findings of an in-depth survey it is doing into GPs’ attitudes to NHS Connecting for Health, new pharmacy services, work-life balance and more. EHI Primary Care will have full details.
  • PCS Web, EMIS’ recently-launched e-record system that gives GPs and primary care nurses instant online access to patients’ records wherever they are working, will be on show at the company’s stand.
  • iSoft is showing publicly for the first time its strategic enterprise solution for primary care, due for launch later this year. Lorenzo Primary Care is for managing patient, clinical and administration services across entire health communities. iSOFT says it fulfils the demand for an integrated patient record that maps the entire patient journey and is accessible across the entire spectrum of primary care services and the wider health economy. Late news…E-Health Insider understands there will be an opportunity for a preview of Lorenzo Clinicals too.
  • Carelink, healthcare IT services and solutions provider, is to showcase the 2006 release of its ioko Connect suite of collaboration tools with live demonstrations. Carelink says its collaborative technology provides a secure online alternative to face-to-face meetings, with reliable and streamlined user interfaces, fast performance and high security.
  • Strand Technology will be showcasing it electronic record system for mental health, CareNotes, and its risk management software PRISM.
  • Polycom will be demonstrating its recently launched ‘Mobile Responder’ – a portable video conferencing system for use by first responders at emergencies, including healthcare professionals. A live video link to one of Polycom’s US healthcare partners will show how video examination cameras can be used to treat patients remotely.
  • Ericom promises the announcement of a “significant new enhancement” to its PowerTerm WebConnect application access solution.

The exhibition is free to visitors and is open on: Monday 20 March : 10.00–18.00; Tuesday 21 March: 10.00–18.00 and Wednesday 22 March: 10.00–16.00.
