Finance software taken up by 150 trusts

Public Sector Costing Associates Limited (PSCAL) is celebrating signing up its 150th NHS customer to use its Payment by Results and Cost Management Systems.
The company was formed in 2002 by IT consultants Sandra Black and Lizo Ngqobongwana, who responded to calls from NHS staff for a system to assist with the National Schedule of Reference Costs (NSRC), Payment by Results (PbR), budgeting and benchmarking.
PSCAL focuses on providing Consultancy, Training and Support to all the NHS Trusts on the Reference Cost Collection process, and has developed software to make cost accounting a lot easier for NHS finance workers.
Director Mike Singer told E-Health Insider: “What is unique about our company is that we don’t use advertising or marketing, we get our custom through word-of-mouth. Our various systems have proved extremely popular with NHS staff, especially as they make the new procedures so easy for staff to account for.
“I travel around all the different trusts talking to the users, and they have all been very positive with their feedback on the systems. I am very happy to see us reach our 150th agreement and I hope we can get more trusts involved with our company.”
The company claim to be the leading supplier of Payment by Results and Cost Management systems to the NHS and aim to meet their mission: “To help our clients in managing their organisations by delivering useful, timely and accurate financial and activity information”
Terry Huff, Director of Finance at Redbridge PCT, one of PSCAL’s early clients said: “It’s great to hear that PSCAL has been so successful – they listen to their clients’ needs and offer excellent support.”
