Capex becomes Eceptionist’s UK partner

  • 4 January 2007

Capex Health, a systems developer and training provider, have been named as the UK partner for Eceptionist, specialists in internet based scheduling services.

Eceptionist is a web-based solution from the US, already in use in the UK, that supports scheduling, telemedicine, disease and case management, care pathways, protocols and reporting for facilities and hospitals.

The Eceptionist platform gives users the ability to manage standard demographic and clinical information but can also be used to manage medical images, studies, notes, diagrams and drawings.

It is already in use in three NHS trust hospitals including Medway and Arrowe Park Hospital in the Wirral. The Eceptionist Telehealth Manager is used by Medway to run their tele-dermatology programme. In the Wirral the Eceptionist booking system is used to provide scheduling and booking facilities to staff across the area.

Capex’s chief executive, Charles Lilley, said: “Healthcare budgets and the cost of care are serious issues in the UK. We passionately believe that fundamental to a radical and sustained reduction in treatment cost – and high quality patient care- is care pathway redesign.

“In an increasingly bureaucratic and fragmented system, Eceptionist has the potential to be an important piece of the jigsaw – an enabling tool both to support and enhance what we already have and to encompass radical process redesign.”

He added: “These pathways ensure that care is provided consistently across a network and that the patients are managed efficiently as they move through the ‘pathways of care’ that are provided by the network, resulting in big savings of time and money.”

Eceptionist’s head of investor relations, Deborah Jones, said: “The UK is an important market for us and we already have several customers running our software. It is key to our development and the care of our UK customers to have a good UK partner to sell, deliver and support our product.”

Eceptionist systems are used by hospitals worldwide and Jones believes that the benefits noted by its existing users will appeal to UK customers looking to enhance the business processes of their workplace.

“These collaborations have not only advanced the frontiers of medical service delivery, but they have also improved the quality of medical care available to patients worldwide. We believe the UK market represents an excellent opportunity for us both.”
