BT looks at Middle East opportunities to expand health business

BT’s International Health Advisory Board is meeting senior members of the Qatar business community and representatives of government organisations to discuss e-health business opportunities in Qatar and neighbouring states. The company say they are discussing with key decision-makers how BT could help develop and advance healthcare information systems in Qatar, as well as examining other opportunities in the region

GPs and Practice Staff Welcome Telemedical ECGs, Says MORI Research

Research by MORI has shown that GPs and practice staff strongly support the use of telemedical ECG testing within a primary care setting. The qualitative survey, commissioned by NHS Northwest and carried out by Ipsos MORI, showed the overwhelmingly positive response towards use of the telemedical ECG equipment from Broomwell Healthwatch amongst GPs and practice staff in both Lancashire and Cumbria. Staff found the equipment accurate and easy-to-use, and without technical issues.

The Oxford University 21st Century Challenge Competition – Grand Final Event 29 November 2007 – 12.45 – 7.00pm – Saïd Business School, University of Oxford

A tactile computer display for the visually-impaired using Braille to allow users to feel the screen; a hands-free portable vein imaging device for doctors and nurses to find a vein first time, reducing infection, cost, time of treatment and patient discomfort; and a water storage and transport device which allows individuals to purify water easily. These are the shortlisted entrepreneurial ideas in the Tomorrow’s People track of the Oxford University 21st Century Challenge Competition which will take place on 29 November at Saïd Business School.
