Anite helps raise social services ratings

  • 28 December 2007

Specialist technology solutions are helping local councils which provide adult social services to improve their performance, systems supplier Anite Public Sector said.

The company found that 54% of the 24 councils with improved marks in the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) Performance Ratings for Adult Social Services in England were using its SWIFT system.

Anite SWIFT is a social care database, available to local authorities, which aims to provide improved service at a lower cost.

The star ratings, published by the CSCI at the end of November, gauge how well each council is running its adult social care services.

The assessment covers the systems, processes and services provided by councils and identifies which councils have improved, deteriorated or stayed the same.

The report said 24 councils had improved their star rating since 2006. 54% of these use Anite’s SWIFT, a figure well above Anite’s 38% market share for social care software.

Fifteen councils had worse star ratings, four of whom were Anite customers.

Of the 48 councils which achieved a three star rating in 2007, nearly half (46%) use Anite’s SWIFT.

46% of the 39 councils which maintained their three star rating were also Anite SWIFT customers.

Tony Barron, business development director, Anite Public Sector, said: "This report shows that by working closely and in collaboration with Anite Public Sector, SWIFT helps councils to improve their star rating for adult social care.

“We are delighted that so many of our customers are reaping the rewards of implementing SWIFT and are delivering improved services to their customers."
