iSoft gets ex-Agfa director as COO

  • 4 April 2008

Andrea FiumicelliIBA Healthcare has appointed the former chief operating officer of Agfa Healthcare, Andrea Fiumicelli, as chief operating officer with responsibility for iSoft.

In an exclusive interview with E-Health insider Fiumicelli said he intended to draw a line under iSoft’s troubled past.

Fiumicelli joins iSoft from Agfa where he was responsible for leading Agfa Healthcare’s IT worldwide research and development, sales and service organisation in Europe and over 20 international subsidiaries.

He already has experience of the NHS IT programme through Agfa’s role as PACS provider in the old Eastern and North East clusters.

He told E-Health Insider: “My past experience has taught me that IT should connect primary, secondary and tertiary care. iSoft is very well positioned to enable this, and I look forward to working on the exciting projects they have all over Europe.

Fiumicelli added: The development of Lorenzo, as well as other IT systems for specific health departments will help iSoft maintain their current market footprint.”

The new iSoft COO will be based at iSoft’s European headquarters in Banbury, where he will have responsibility for iSoft’s sales, development, and support services now being delivered across five continents and 35 countries.

He told EHI: “The focus I will have will reflect the strategy of the company pushing for innovation and growth through solid management and good leadership. I am aware of the company’s troubled past, but intend to put that behind us. At Agfa, I helped ensure two clusters received our PACS solution from local service providers and I intend to work with iSoft’s local service provider to see they get what they need from iSoft.”

Fiumicelli says he is determined to ensure the market look to iSoft when it seeks ‘change and revolution’ fit for the 21st century.

IBA Healthcare’s CEO, Gary Cohen, said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Andrea to the iSoft team. His drive, expertise and management acumen will be a great asset to us as we move through our planned growth programme. It is important as we drive growth across the group that we have people who understand and have operated in the international markets we now operate in.

”Our capacity to attract leading industry executives like Andrea is confirmation of the quality of our strategy and our leadership position in the market place.”
