Nigel Beasley is a consultant ear, nose and throat surgeon and deputy medical director at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. He is also the national clinical lead for hospital doctors at NHS Connecting for Health.
What is the first thing you do when you get into the office?
Change out of my cycling kit
Your favourite gadget at the moment?
A new iPod Shuffle – a birthday present from my children
What’s the best thing about your job?
The people I work with are fantastic
Favourite book or song (or both!)?
Book: French Revolutions: Tim Moore – a great account of his attempt to cycle the route of the Tour de France
Song: Always Look on the Bright Side of Life: Monty Python – never fails to keep me level headed
Pet hate?
Thick piles of fag ends just outside the hospital perimeter

Google (Maps)
In a perfect world, what would you be doing?
Hiking across Africa with an old fashioned Leica and an endless supply of Kodachrome 64 film
