  • 10 October 2008

Speakers at the sixth annual HL7 UK Conference will include a strong supplier and international line-up.

They include Matthew Swindells, the author of the NHS Informatics Review and now head of Tribal Health and international speakers who are due to speak come from Holland and Canada.

Industry speakers will include individuals from BT, Cerner, CSC, INPS and iSoft plus representatives from Connecting for Health and Informing Healthcare in Wales.

The 22-23 October conference will be held at the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists in London. The conference, which is being sponsored by InterSystems, will be run in seven sessions across the two days.

The theme of the conference is ‘delivering better information’, a central theme of the NHS Informatics Review and Lord Darzi’s Next Stage Review.

HL7 UK 2008 will focus on the capability of HL7 and related informatics standards to ensure quality information is made available when and where required.

Phillip Scott, chair of the HL7 UK programme committee and HL7 UK board member, said: “I am confident the programme will give practical help to suppliers and health informatics staff both in the NHS and other sectors in our joint endeavor to deliver better information.”

Included in the conference programme is the introduction of a series of learning based tutorials for delegates, on issues such as HL7 v3, Spine/PDS, CDA and SNOMED.

The conference is open to HL7 UK members and non-members, providing an opportunity for anyone working in healthcare interoperability to learn and share best practice and latest developments. NHS trust staff who register for the event are being offered a 63% discount.
