ENEL-MED, a Polish private healthcare provider has selected Agfa HealthCare to provide it with picture archiving and communications systems and supporting technologies.

Agfa HealthCare will supply its IMPAX 6 multi-site PACS solution, computed radiography systems and imagers.

The Belgian-based health IT and medical imaging specialist will provide ENEL-MED with secure and scalable solutions to support diagnostic imaging at seven medical centres.

In addition to its seven sites, ENEL-MED has 360 medical institution customers across over Poland. The agreement covers the installation of eight of the company’s Computed Radiography (CR) systems and seven Drystar 5302 imagers.

Agfa’s sixth generation PACS system will provide the diagnostic image management and communication needs of the radiology departments within the facilities, as well as the remote diagnostic needs of multiple facilities across the country.

Within the seven clinics, Agfa HealthCare will support the institution’s digitization and printing needs by installing seven multi-application compact CR 30-X systems, one CR 85-X multi-user digitizer and seven desktop Drystar 5302 imagers.

ENEL-MED works with over 360 medical institutions across Poland, providing, amongst others, advanced remote radiology services. At present, the organization employs 1,200 staff members in its seven medical centres, including over 580 doctors, 150 nurses and 40 receptionists.

"We were looking for a provider of image management solutions that could provide us with a secure and scalable solution to meet our extensive needs for collaboration, as well as deliver reliable CR solutions," said Zbigniew Gniadek, director of Diagnostic Imaging at ENEL-MED.

He added that he had chosen IMPAX partly because it was secure and scalable, supporting the group’s extensive collaboration needs, and also because it could be easily integrated with the private healthcare provider’s existing Radiology Information System and Hospital Information System.

“ENEL-MED has always positioned itself at the forefront of medical science and the introduction of the new solutions will enable us to re-enforce this position."

Gniadek added that the fact the solution was available in Polish was another important factor.

"ENEL-MED is Poland’s largest and most successful private healthcare provider and the selection of Agfa HealthCare’s leading solutions is a clear signal that we can meet the demands of some of the world’s most challenging demands," said Gyorgy Hodosi, general manager Central and Easter Europe for Agfa HealthCare.
