- 8 December 2009
NVISIA and Siemens Healthcare have combined their technology to create an imaging system that allows expectant parents and medical staff to see a foetus in detail by using 3D glasses.
The new Siemens ultrasound FourSight Workplace image management software uses NVIDIA 3D Vision stereoscopic glasses and a high-end professional graphics solution to create an extremely detailed 3D and 4D images of an unborn baby.
Jeff Brown, general manager, NVIDIA Professional Solutions, said: “Imagine the absolute thrill of an expectant mum and dad putting on 3D glasses and being able to really see what their baby looks like in vivid, high-resolution detail.
The clinical images obtained using the Acuson S2000 ultrasound system and then further enhanced using an exclusive technology designed by Siemens to produce photo-realistic 3D images rather than traditional 2D images.
Barbara Del Prince, global segment manager, obstetrics and gynaecology at Siemens said:
“This technology takes 3D/4D ultrasound imaging to the next level. Our FourSight Workplace, combined with the NVIDIA Quadro professional graphics solution and 3D Vision technology, offers a truly remarkable experience that’s rewarding for parents and their doctors, while also delivering practical benefits in medicine”
“This quality improvement may provide additional information to the physician and assist in communication with surgeons and patients or to aid in treatment or surgical planning.”
