Siemens launch imaging software suite

  • 4 December 2009

Siemens has launched a new suite of imaging software to provide enhanced visualisation for cardiologists, oncologists, neurologists and radiologists across the world.

The new Syngo.via software, which provides multimodality reading of clinical cases, increases reading efficiency through automated case preparation and structured case navigation.

The automated case preparation loads images into the correct applications without the need to manually select the best layout.

For example, when a clinician needs to view a cardiac CT scan the software will remove the blood pools and ribs and display the image in the most suitable and clear way possible.

The case navigation functionality categories workflow steps and aligns images to each corresponding step.

Bernd Montag, chief executive officer of the imaging and IT division at Siemens said: “Delivering on market demand for improved image-reading tools in the clinical setting requires special capabilities that we are in a unique position to deliver.

“In order to develop syngo.via, Siemens tapped into its in-depth knowledge of disease specific reading processes and was able to deliver cutting edge imaging technology that offers the latest clinical applications for both routine as well as advanced reading.”

The software integrates with imaging devices and technology including Siemen’s scanners and its new Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS), syngo. plaza which enables 2D, 3D and 4D images to come together in one place. It also integrates with existing PACS and radiology information systems from all major suppliers.

The suite also allows image results to be accessed through web portals so that referring clinicians can view images and results from any location.
