Picis expands CareSuite in Spain

  • 21 January 2010

Surgical software specialist Picis has announced that IB-Salut regional health services in Spain’s Balearic Islands has completed its fifth implementation of its CareSuite high acuity software.

IB-Salut signed the contract to implement Picis Critical Care Manager and PACU Manager (Post Anesthesia Care Units) at Hospital Can Misses in Ibiza in December 2008.

According to Picis, Critical Care Manager provides a critical care system that records documentation and supports care management while PACU Manager enables nurses and physicians to better manage the complex data generated in the post anesthesia care units.

In addition, IB-Salut has extended the roll-out of Picis solutions to include recovery areas at two other hospitals, Comarcal d’Inca and Hospital General Mateu Orfila. Both of the hospitals originally signed deals with Picis in 2007 to implement its ICU software.

Dr Luis Alegre Latorre, corporate executive director of medicine and IT at IB-Salut said that the deals were signed based on the success of the use of Picis CareSuite at Fundació Hospital de Manacor and Hospital Son Llàtzer. The two hospitals have had the system running across ICU, recovery and anesthesia since 2008 and 2001 respectively.

He said: “The experience of the hospitals that are already using Picis solutions was an important factor for expanding the software installation, especially the high level of user satisfaction among clinical staff who work with Picis solutions daily.

“Picis has a deep understanding of the particular needs of these care areas and is the best choice for helping our health professionals provide better patient care in high acuity.”

According to the Picis, its solutions are now deployed on a large scale in eight hospitals within the Madrid Health Ministry, 11 NHS hospitals in London, three facilities as part of Helsinki University Central Hospital and six hospitals in Helse Midt region in Norway.
