Dell launches Medical Archiving

  • 26 March 2010

Dell has launched a Medical Archiving solution that it says will help healthcare organisations to cope with the growing amount of data generated by electronic medical records and imaging systems.

The solution is based on Dell’s upcoming DX Object Storage Platform. Listed features include policy driven storage, which uses metadata to manage the location and length of content storage, open access to protocols, so organisations can use their preferred software platform and a “nearline” archive for medical content.

“Hospitals around the world are under tremendous pressure to tighten budgets while managing growing amounts of information,” said Paul Bell, president of Dell’s global public sector business.

“Medical Archiving provides them with an open, cost-efficient means of storing, sharing and analysing this expanding pool of valuable content to improve patient care and operational decision making.”

Dell is also launching the Dell PowerEdge C6100 server, which is aimed at higher education and research institutions, as part of its “solutions for the virtual era” strategy, which is focused on energy and cost efficiency.
