This special edition of E-Health Insider’s industry round up focuses on appointments that have been made in the healthcare IT sector over the past three months.

BridgeHead Software appoints EMEA sales head

BridgeHead Software, a healthcare storage virtualization company, has appointed Tony Tomkys as director of sales for EMEA, to increase its customer footprint in the NHS and UK private healthcare sector and to drive pan-European initiatives. Tomkys was previously business director, public sector, at CommVault. Tomkys said: “HSV is fast becoming recognised by healthcare IT professionals as an intuitive, future-proof technology platform that solves one of the most urgent problems facing hospitals today: that of the security, protection, management and storage of terabytes of patient and administrative data in a flexible, efficient and cost-effective way.”

InterSystems appoints Andrew Love as product manager, TrakCare Lab

InterSystems has appointed Andrew Love to the newly created position of product manager, TrakCare Lab, with global responsibility for the product roadmap of its pathology laboratory software. Love will relocate from Dubai to Sydney to take up his new position. “There is a global trend toward regional and national laboratory systems and a growing importance to integrate pathology services into a connected healthcare environment,” said Love. “TrakCare Lab is well-positioned to meet these market requirements.”

Iron Mountain appoints commercial director

Information management company Iron Mountain has appointed Simon Duddy as commercial director for the UK, public sector and healthcare. Previously, Duddy was head of consulting for the National Health Service Supply Chain contract with DHL. Earlier in his career, he designed a new logistics service for the NHS in London. Duddy said: “The public and healthcare sectors are going through a period of significant change; budgets are being cut in-line, with an increasing call to streamline business practices yet maintain and improve services. These organisations will increasingly look to companies like Iron Mountain to solve complex information management issues that will help them to provide more efficient services to the public.”

Stefan Herm leads McKesson international operations group

McKesson UK has appointed Stefan Herm as chief operations officer of its International Operations Group (IOG), in which post he will be responsible for its operations in the UK, France, the Netherlands, and Ireland. Herm was previously general manager of health services, Europe, at Siemens AG.

MedeAnalytics appoints national business development manager for the UK

MedeAnalytics, a provider of healthcare performance management systems, has appointed Stuart Tebbutt as national business development manager to drive growth in the UK. Tebbutt has 16 years of experience selling healthcare systems and was most recently Midlands territory manager for Ardentia and business development manager at iSOFT. Tebbutt said: “With the direction the NHS is moving [in] under the coalition government, our solutions will be essential as the sector tries to do more with less. I look forward to working with NHS bodies to help them realise efficiency savings.”

New consultant for Northgate Public Services

Northgate Public Services has appointed Andy Goldberg as a consultant to its health and social care business. Goldberg is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon and founder of the medical innovation organisation Medical Futures. He will advise Northgate on how to bring innovation to the health and social care market.

Ted Woodhouse chairs i+ IT

i+ IT, an integration and interoperability specialist, has appointed Ted Woodhouse, former director of IT strategy at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, to the role of non-executive chairman. Chief executive Damian O’Gara said: “Our mission is to work with the entire health and social care sector to deliver ‘one patient, one identifier, one health record: available to the entire care team at the time and place of need’ and Ted will certainly help us in that endeavour.”
