Royal Philips Electronics, has announced that it will acquire the business of Israeli based picture archiving and communications (PACS) provider, CDP Medical.

The buyout of CDP, which is a subsidiary of medical device distributor Medtechnica, is part of Philips Healthcare’s wider strategy to expand it clinical informatics portfolio with systems for different markets around the world.

Steve Rusckowski, chief executive of Philips Healthcare, said: “This is an important step on our journey to complete our range of clinical informatics and patient care solutions that simplify clinician workflow, improve financial outcomes for our customer and help improve and save lives.

“The acquisition of the CDP business complements our current iSite PACS offering and allows us to better tap into certain high-growth market segments, geographically.”

CDP was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Petah Tikva with 20 employees and almost 300 hospital and clinic installations globally.

The deal is expected to be completed before the end of the year following governmental approval and will see the business become part of Philips Healthcare’s Patient Care and Clinical Informatics business.
