Connelly to speak at EHI Live 2010
- 3 November 2010
The NHS’ director general of informatics, Christine Connelly, will be speaking at eHealth Insider Live 2010 next week.
Connelly has confirmed that she will be speaking on the second day of the two day exhibition and conference, which takes place on 8 and 9 November at the NEC in Birmingham.
Her speech will focus on the Department of Health’s consultation on an information strategy for the NHS in England, and ‘how you can help to make the information revolution happen’.
The DH has also arranged an additional session to make the most of the opportunity to engage visitors and delegates to EHI Live 2010 about the consultation.
On Tuesday, it will stream a free live webchat into the event at which health secretary Andrew Lansley will take questions about his vision for an information revolution to support choice and control in the health service.
People can ask questions in advance by emailing informationrevolution@dh.gsi.gov.uk or by Tweeting using the hashtag #informationrevolution.
The webchat itself will be at www.dh.gov.uk/information revolution from 1.30pm on 9 November, and will be archived on the website afterwards.
EHI director Linda Davidson said: “We are delighted that Christine Connelly has chosen to attend eHealth Insider Live 2010 and that the Department of Health has chosen to run this additional session.
“The consultation on a new information strategy for the NHS has come in for some intense debate since it was published earlier this month.
“We’re sure a lot of visitors to EHI Live 2010 will relish the opportunity to find out more about it and to provide their input into that debate.”
The last minute additions to EHI Live 2010 have not affected Tuesday’s keynote speech from health minister Simon Burns, whose brief includes healthcare IT and the NHS IT agency NHS Connecting for Health.
This will go ahead as planned. Unfortunately, however, Karren Brady, the vice-chair of West Ham United Football Club, will not be able to attend EHI Live 2010, because of filming commitments for The Apprentice.
Information about the speeches by Simon Burns and Christine Connelly and the DH webchat with Andrew Lansley can be found on the EHI Live 2010 website, along with all the latest information about the conference schedule and what is happening in the exhibition. Plus, you can register online.
