EHI launches EHI Intelligence
- 8 November 2010
E-Health Insider has launched an online subscription research service called EHI Intelligence providing previously unobtainable information about the systems in use across the NHS.
The heart of the new service is the EHI Intelligence NHS Trust Database; a fully searchable online database holding unique data about the core systems in use by NHS organisations.
The database launches today with information about the systems in use in all 131 NHS foundation trusts. Research into the systems in use in other trusts is already under way.
The initial focus of the database is the Clinical 5 and departmental systems in use in individual trusts. Every NHS trust in the database has a profile detailing the systems they use, the name of their suppliers, when the systems were installed and when the trust plans to replace them.
Subscribers to EHI Intelligence will also receive two new premium research analysis publications: the EHI Intelligence Quarterly Bulletin and the EHI Intelligence Annual Report.
EHI co-founder and editor Jon Hoeksma said: “EHI has become known as the UK’s most trusted source of news, opinion and information about healthcare IT.
“The new EHI Intelligence service is completely independent of the EHI news service, but it will adopt many of the same values.
"Our dedicated researchers have built the EHI Intelligence Trust Database from the ground up, using multiple sources of data, to provide the most detailed and accurate picture of NHS IT available anywhere.
“We have talked to many NHS trusts and suppliers in developing this exciting new project.
"They have all told us that it is extremely difficult to find out even simple information, such as who is responsible for IT in a particular trust, or what patient administration systems in wide use across a particular region.
“The EHI Intelligence Trust Database holds this information. It will be an indispensible tool for NHS trusts that want to benchmark themselves against similar organisations or to get references for projects they want to run.
“It will also be a vital tool for suppliers who want to effectively target trusts with the IT that they will undoubtedly need to prepare for the many challenges facing the health service in the years ahead.”
EHI Intelligence is offered on a complimentary basis to NHS trusts that supply information to the database and on an annual subscription for non-NHS users.
"EHI Intelligence offers the best data available today on the use of IT systems in the NHS; information that will provide greater transparency and help suppliers better identify and address market opportunities," said Hoeksma.
It is being demonstrated on EHI’s stand at eHealth Insider Live 2010: C80. Come and join us for a glass of champagne at 4pm to find out more and celebrate the launch of this essential new research service.
