Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust has had to accept a minor delay to the go-live of its Medway patient administration system.

The North East trust had planned to start using the system, which is supplied by System C, a McKesson company, last weekend.

However, it has put the date back to 14 July while it implements an upgraded version of the Sunquest ICE order communications and results reporting solution.

A spokesperson for the trust told eHealth Insider that the go-live date had been revised at a board meeting last week.

Gateshead awarded System C a seven-year contract for the deployment of a trust-wide electronic patient record based on Medway and its associated clinical software in May 2011.

The Medway PAS includes a master patient index, inpatients, outpatients, day care and case note tracking.

System C, which was acquired by McKesson for £87m in May 2011, will also provide Gateshead with its Medway A&E system together with an integrated data warehouse and reporting tools.

The Medway Connect integration platform and portal will be used to integrate the new systems with the trust’s existing IT, provide clinicians with a single view, and create an update service for the trust-wide patient record.

The first connection to be made through the portal is the integration of the trust’s Sunquest ICE solution for results and order communications.
