Choose Well Doncaster app

NHS Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group has created an app to help people choose the right health service when they are ill or injured.

Choose Well Doncaster is an iPhone app designed to ease pressure on the NHS during busy times. It gives advice on when to use a local pharmacy, NHS 111, GP surgery, minor injury unit and A&E and uses satellite navigation to guide users to the closest services.

The app also includes notes and a reminder function to save any important information and remind patients of upcoming appointments.

Produced by NHS Doncaster CCG with design input from interactive media students at Doncaster College, the app will be developed for Android phones as well if it proves popular.

Dr Andy Oakford, the CCG’s lead doctor for unplanned care, said the app displays the closest services to the user if they are ill or injured in Doncaster.

“We gathered excellent feedback from the students during the development of the app and hope to work in partnership with them on other projects in the future,” he said.

The CCG has also produced a YouTube advert for the app.
