NHS Blood and Transplant appoints first chief digital officer

Aaron Powell has been appointed as the first chief digital officer at NHS Blood and Transplant. Powell joined NHS Blood and Transplant in January 2010 and, following a number of roles in the organ donation and transplantation directorate, was appointed interim director of ICT in November 2014.

East Kent Hospitals chooses EuroKing’s maternity system

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust will deploy EuroKing’s maternity system, E3.Net. The trust is part of the South Acute Programme, made up of a group of trusts which failed to receive a system through the National Programme for IT and have attracted central funding to buy clinical IT systems. EuroKing is in around 40 NHS trusts across the UK and Ireland.

Blackpool implements EuroKing’s maternity services data set functionality

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has implemented EuroKing’s maternity services data set functionality within its E3 system.  This enables all areas of the Minimum Maternity Dataset and Maternity Payment by Results requirements to be collated quickly and easily.  Blackpool has used it to successfully submit the required data to Health and Social Care Information Centre on a number of occasions.

InterSystems partners with Validic

Validic, a technology platform for accessing digital health patient data, has announced a partnership with electronic patient record provider InterSystems. Using Validic will enable InterSystems' customers to integrate user-generated data from wearable and mobile health devices and applications into the HealthShare suite of products.

6PM acquires Blithe

6PM has acquired Blithe Computer Systems. Blithe is the market leading supplier of IT solutions for sexual health and substance misuse markets, with more than 700 installations throughout the UK. The company was also the overall winner of last year's EHI Awards, for its work on automated sexual health testing at Dean Street Express in London. It will operate under the name 6PM Blithe.

Medica Group completes move to Redcentric

Medica Group, the UK’s largest teleradiology provider, has signed a £1.1 million, five-year connectivity deal with IT and N3 services provider Redcentric. The deal will provide super-fast and secure 24 hour access to radiology and imaging reporting to more than half of NHS trusts across the UK.

Sullivan Cuff Software Ltd rebrands as SCSLhealth

Sullivan Cuff Software, a provider of anticoagulation management software, has rebranded as SCSLhealth.  Its core product, INRstar, assists clinicians with the management of patients on anticoagulation therapy and is used in more than 3,000 NHS locations across the UK. The company has recently expanded to begin developing solutions for other long term conditions including diabetes.

Dentists' Provident set to digitise policy administration

Dentists' Provident, an income protection insurance provider for the dental profession, has selected OnBase by Hyland as its enterprise content management system, to digitise the policy and claims processes and enhance its client offering. OnBase will provide a fully digital document information hub accessible to staff across the company..
