Zesty recognised as top UK firm in digital innovator hotlist

Appointment booking service Zesty has been named among 50 of the most forward-thinking digital UK companies in the 2018 Digital Innovator’s Power List.

The service, brainchild of London-based entrepreneurs James Balmain and Lloyd Price, allows users to book appointments with a variety of healthcare professionals from a smartphone or mobile device.

The Digital Innovator’s Power List is an initiative aimed at identifying forward-thinking digital companies based in London. A list of 50 firms are judged based on their potential as a “life changer” or “market transformer”, which is eventually whittled down to a single winner by a panel of digital experts.

The shortlist was agreed upon by the founders of the initiative, London newspaper City A.M. and law firm Bird and Bird, alongside tech PR agency Hotwire. Zesty will participate in a series of events with other digital companies over the course of next year, before the winner is declared in September 2018.

Zesty co-founder Lloyd Price said: “We are honoured to have been named one of the 50 most innovative digital companies in the UK and one of the few healthcare companies to make the list. Our technology, consumer applications and enterprise platform improve access to care, automate tasks, save patients time and providers money across the NHS and private healthcare markets in Europe.”

Zesty originally launched in the UK in 2013 but has since expanded to other European countries, enabling patients to arrange appointments with private doctors, dentists, physiotherapists and other specialist healthcare providers from a single digital hub.

Zesty now has more than 20 booking services for NHS Trusts in the UK. Earlier in October, Andy Williams, former chief executive of NHS Digital, joined the company as Board Advisor.

Nicholas Perry, partner and head of London at Bird and Bird said that London’s position on the global stage has never been more important and it continues to be the home of some of the world’s most pioneering digital companies.

“This year’s Digital Innovators Power List celebrates some of the most visionary digital companies in the city and will explore the many ways in which technology is transforming the world”, Perry said.

  • Surely the headline should “Zesty recognised as one of London’s top firms…”?
Zesty have not yet won the award so it’s a bit misleading to say they are the top firm, and the award only considers London firms so its not really a UK-wide award.
I don’t have anything against zesty, but this article sounds a bit too much like taking pr blurb and regurgitating it, which is a shame as there is also a lot more considered content on this site.
