Egton moves to UKCloud’s Cloud Native Infrastructure

Healthcare IT software provider Egton has migrated to UKCloud’s Cloud Native Infrastructure in an effort to enhance the services it delivers to the healthcare market.

Egton provides a variety of non-clinical technologies and services for primary, social and community care providers, most notably its electronic document management software, Intradoc247.

The company also provides back office, compliance and business continuity solutions, as well as governance, risk and compliance software to healthcare organisations.

Its services will now be delivered via UKCloud’s cloud infrastructure, which is based on the Red Hat OpenStack Platform.

UKCloud said the platform would provide “a flexible and agile environment for Egton to innovate and continually enhance the services that it brings to the healthcare market”.

It furthered suggested the companies shared “a similar drive in improving access to information in critical UK markets”.

“We were looking for excellent performance and great support. UKCloud delivers on both fronts,” said Edward Bellamy, product director at Egton.

“The company’s specialist hands-on experience in the UK healthcare sector ensured we could provide the level of enhanced security and assurance that our clients in the healthcare sector value.

“It’s part of our continuous commitment to offering our customers the best-performing technology.”

Cloud services specialist UKCloud has been growing rapidly since it was set up in 2011 under the name Skyscape Cloud Services.

The company established a dedicated healthcare division in May last year called UKCloud Health, aimed at providing an open cloud platform specifically for the UK healthcare industry.

Colin Fisher, director of EMEA cloud service providers at Red Hat, said: “It is great to see UKCloud’s investment not only in the skills to support its service levels, but also in Red Hat open source technology to provide a higher level of performance and security, rewarded in this way – both in its business and accolades.

“Innovating on Red Hat’s OpenStack Platform and Red Hat OpenShift, UKCloud has been able to directly support the needs of its public sector clients, providing performance, service and support that is award winning.”
