NHS Digital deputy chief executive awarded CBE in Birthday Honours 2018

NHS Digital’s deputy chief executive has been awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday honours list.

Rob Shaw was given the accolade for his “services to health and social care”.

Shaw said: “I am delighted to accept such a great honour.

“It’s exciting to be at the forefront of digital in the NHS, but this achievement has only been possible thanks to the support and dedication of those I work with.”

A number of people took to social media to congratulate Shaw, including NHS Digital’s chief executive, Sarah Wilkinson.

She said: “You’re a fantastic ambassador for the power of digital in transforming healthcare. Your relentless hard work has resulted in some fabulous products and services and your leadership within NHS Digital enables so many others to be equally effective.

“So good to see this recognised.”

Simon Eccles, the CCIO for health and social care, also congratulated Shaw, saying his CBE was “richly deserved”.

Eccles added: “A constant calm voice of common sense always helping the NHS do its best”.

Will Smart, the CIO for health and social care, also congratulated his colleague.
