PRSB and Digital Health partner to promote standards
- 29 November 2018
The Professional Records Standards Body and Digital Health have joined forces as part of a new initiative to increase the adoption of standards for information sharing across health and social care services.
The new collaboration will see the PRSB become an official event partner for the new Digital Health Rewired leadership summit, conference and exhibition – which connects health IT leaders with the latest digital health innovations – and the Digital Health Summer Schools 2019.
Jon Hoeksma, CEO of Digital Health, said: “The PRSB is playing a key role in the development and adoption of common standards, the use of which will enable safer, more joined-up care, starting with discharge summaries. We look forward to working with them on Rewired.”
Lorraine Foley, CEO of PRSB added: “We are delighted to be partnering with Digital Health. Working together, particularly on the Rewired event, will help us raise greater awareness of PRSB standards. And we’ll be able to lend more support to clinical and digital leaders and staff as they implement our standards for information sharing across health and social care.”
The new agreement builds on the current partnership between PRSB and Digital Health earlier this year, which saw the PRSB access and work with up to 2,600 NHS digital leaders on the Digital Health Networks online community platform, and be heavily involved in 2018’s popular Summer Schools and Leadership Summit.
The Leadership Summit has now been incorporated into day one of Digital Health Rewired, the new two-day conference and one-day exhibition in London Olympia on 25-26 March 2019, focused on joining up and integrating health and care through new ways of working.
The PRSB will continue their involvement in developing the programme, and on day two of Rewired, will run a CCIO panel session to share the early experiences of adopters of PRSB records standards.
This closely aligns with the central theme of the main Rewired Expo conference – taking place on day two – exploring how to harness the full potential of digital, open platforms and standards, to better integrate and deliver health services.
The Rewired Expo features five dedicated zones and theatres on key disruptive technology areas – AI and Analytics; Clinical Software; Cloud and Mobile; Cyber Security; and Digital Imaging. Each has a dedicated programme exploring benefits achieved and the lessons learned.
Across both days, the Rewired Hack Day provides the opportunity for people with different skills and backgrounds to team up and collaboratively create prototype solutions to current issues and problems in healthcare.
PRSB is a unique collaboration of groups representing those who receive and provide health and social care across the UK, as well as those providing the IT systems that support care. It works with the public and professionals to define the standards needed for good care records.
Digital Health Rewired is delivered by Digital Health Intelligence Ltd, the team behind digitalhealth.net, the CCIO, CIO and CNIO Networks, Summer Schools and Leadership Summits.
As part of the partnership, Afzal Chaudhry, vice-president of the PRSB, joins the Digital Health CCIO Advisory Panel, which represents the CCIO Network.
Chaudhry recently spoke to Digital Health News about his appointment to the PRSB, saying the organisation “brings an opportunity to influence and shape the wider discussion and strategy and to draw together all of the relevant stakeholders, bringing clinical input into the digital and technological arena for the benefit of patients.”
The PRSB recently published the first stage of a new standard to improve the quality of clinical information shared between community pharmacies and GP practices, in a move to reduce medication errors, improve patient safety and reduce administrative work for busy staff.
