NHSX advertising for advisors to ensure patient voices are heard

The CEO of NHSX has launched a call for two advisors to help ensure patient voices are heard.

In a blog post, Matthew Gould said the organisation was looking for part-time advisors to hold NHSX to account on how it involves patients and citizens.

They will also provide advice and challenge on patient involvement to the NHS’ senior leadership team as well as sitting on and advising a number of our key programme boards; likely to include the NHS App, NHS login and NHS.uk.

All applicants must have a commitment to improving patient experience and developing excellent public participation, as well as a sound knowledge of digital, data and technology in transforming services and developing new models of care.

They should also have a strategic healthcare focus ideally within a digital, data or technology context, their personal experience of health and care (either as a patient or carer), a strong intellect, commercial and political astuteness, and a willingness to challenge at all levels.

In the blog, Gould said: “The whole point of improving technology in the NHS and social care is to make life better for the people who use these systems.

“So it has to make sense to involve them in the design of digital services. Because no one knows how people will respond to an appointment booking service, or a diabetes management tool, or a care plan better than they do themselves.”

Applications close midnight on 29 November.

NHSX is also on the look out for a chief technology officer (CTO), which will help develop the “technical architecture for the NHS and to ensure that technology capabilities are fit for purpose to meet the needs of the health and care system”.
