  • 5 June 2020

After a short break, our Movers and Shakers round up has returned! Appointments include a new CIO at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and a new CTO at Cerner.

Nick Roberts has started a new role as CIO and trust board director at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Nick is sharing his time with University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where he is director of digital services. He will move to Moorfields on a full-time basis from 1 July.

During his time at UCLH, Nick helped with the trust’s go-live of its Epic EPR system.

His previous roles have included head of ICT at Croydon Council.

Mandy Wright has joined Graphnet as the company’s customer director, with responsibility for benefits realisation and ensuring the company’s health and social care users get the most out of their shared record, analytics and population health systems.  She will also provide additional input into the company’s product development plans.

Mandy will be working alongside existing customer director Hadleigh Stollar, to increase the support for our growing customer base.

A nurse by background, Mandy has extensive experience in healthcare technology, most recently working in the NHS for six years and as clinical deployment lead at Nuffield Health for two years.  Prior to that, Mandy spent 8 years with System C as professional services manager.

She joins Adam Hatherly who has been promoted to the role of technical director with responsibility for the day-to-day running of Graphnet’s technical teams and leads the company’s technical management team.

His focus will be on developing Graphnet’s technical capabilities for integrating with local and national services, developing the CareCentric shared record, population health, PHR and strategic FHIR solutions and leveraging the power of the company’s cloud infrastructure.

Adam is also chair of the INTEROPen architecture subgroup, and contributes to the NHSX LHCR architecture editorial group.

Doctor Care Anywhere has announced the appointment of Ben Kent as its new chief operating officer.

Ben will focus on continuing to develop the company’s strategic presence and scaling up additional value streams, including for its virtual specialist capability and mental health services.

His previous experience includes chief financial officer at Simplyhealth and group director of finance at Bupa.

Cerner has announced that Jerome Labat has joined the company as chief technology officer (CTO).

As CTO, Labat will lead efforts to strengthen Cerner’s technology focus and accelerate cloud-enabled SaaS platforms and solutions.

His previous experience includes CTO for HPE Software and vice president of infrastructure automation and development operations at Oracle.

Natalie-Jane Macdonald is stepping down from her position as non-executive director on the PHIN Board as she takes up a new position as chair of Nuffield Health.

She was nominated to be a director of PHIN in 2015 by the private medical insurers collectively.

PHIN’s chairman, Andrew Vallance-Owen, said: “Natalie was always well informed and ready with constructive challenge when necessary, but totally supportive of PHIN’s key objectives to promote transparency in the private hospital sector and to enable healthcare consumers to make informed choices using the information published by PHIN.

“On behalf of PHIN’s Board I congratulate her on her appointment as chair of Nuffield Health and thank her for her support and commitment over the years which was greatly appreciated. We will miss her wise counsel, but wish her well in this new and exciting role.”
