Digital Health Rewired 2021 festival programme published

The programme for Digital Health Rewired 2021, the virtual festival celebrating the best in digital health and data, has been published.

The online programme covers 10 summits with more than 300 speakers across five days.

For the first time, Rewired will be fully virtual and will run 15-19 March 2021, building on the success of the Virtual Summer Schools 2020 and hugely popular Digital Responses to Covid-19 webinar series.

The Rewired Festival kicks off on 15 March with the Interoperability Summit, with a keynote from the pioneer of health interoperability Grahame Grieve, Founder of HL7 FHIR, followed by quick fire sessions, case studies and workshops with PRSB, INTEROPen and TechUK.

Monday afternoon’s Digital Responses to Covid-19 Summit will deliver quick-fire sessions exploring how digital and data have been used through the crisis with a keynote from Saffron Cordery, deputy CEO of NHS Providers.

Day two is the Digital Health Leadership Summit, exclusive to current and future NHS IT leaders, and will feature keynotes from Sarah Wilkinson, CEO of NHS Digital and Matthew Gould, CEO of NHSX.

They will be followed by NHS CEOs sharing their digital journeys: Dr Owen Williams, Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS FT; Dr Richard Jenkins, Barnsley NHS FT; Samantha Allen, Sussex Partnership NHS FT; and Dr Navina Evans, CEO of Health Education England.

Day three brings the Cloud and Mobile Summit and Virtual Care Summit in the morning, with the Clinical Software Summit and Connected Care Summit in the afternoon. Keynotes include Professor Joe Harrison, CEO of Milton Keynes Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and Frank Hester, founder and CEO of TPP

Day four brings the Digital Transformation Summit, focused on delivering digital change at scale with an opening triple keynote from NHSX CCIO/CIO/CNIO leadership trio: Dr Simon Eccles, deputy CEO, Sonia Patel, CIO, and Natasha Phillips, CNIO.

We’ll also have the leadership teams from Great Ormond Street and The Rotherham presenting during the day on their digital journeys and views from the top.

Then in the afternoon there is a not-to-be-missed track on Digital Transformation of Medicine , in partnership with the Royal Society of Medicine, with speakers including Professor Henrietta Bowden-Jones OBE, consultant psychiatrist and honorary professor at University College London.

Day five will round off the week with the AI and Data Summit with keynotes including Ming Tang, head of data NHSE&I, Caroline Cake, CEO HDR UK and Professor Chris Holmes from the Alan Turing Institute.

The New Normal will pull together the threads of the week and look ahead to what comes next.  Chris Hopson, CEO of NHS Providers will deliver a keynote on “The NHS and Digital – Where Next?’ with the joint keynote from Dr Alan Karthikesalingam, head of research for Google Health.

The focus of the sessions is on education and sharing best practice through short video lightning talks crowdsourced from members from Digital Health Networks and case studies interspersed with audience Q&A, workshops and online networking

Also running throughout the week is the Rewired Pitchfest, bringing together start-ups with today’s NHS IT leaders and their teams. Sixteen short-listed digital health start-ups will compete in daily heats between 15 and 18 March with the grand final taking place on 19 March.

Jon Hoeksma, CEO of Digital Health said: “The breadth of this year’s Rewired programme reflects the key role of digital and data throughout the Covid-19 emergency, but also the clear acceleration of longer-term digital transformation in health. My sincere thanks the programme group, everyone who responded to the open call, partners and sponsors.”

System C & Graphnet is again the main sponsor of Rewired.

Joint CEO, Markus Bolton, added: “Most of us have been involved somehow in the huge acceleration in the pace of innovation and deployment in digital health technology over the last 12 months – whether we work in the NHS, in social care or on the supplier-side.

That is why this year, more than ever, it is really important that everyone has an opportunity to stand back from the noise just for a moment, to share experience and best practice, to swap notes on what has worked well and to share ideas on how to help with the challenges ahead.

“We’re lucky to have an event like Rewired which brings together all senior leaders and colleagues in healthcare IT and provides the platform for doing this.”

In-between the Rewired programme’s exciting keynotes, video case studies, Pitchfest competition heats, lightning talks and interactive workshops, you can connect with colleagues across the digital health community.

Attendees will be able to network via the virtual event platform, and video chat with fellow delegates, sponsors and exhibitors.

Digital Health Rewired is free for everyone from NHS, public sector, independent providers, charities and education sectors, plus start-ups less than three-years old.
