Phlo digital pharmacy expands outside of the capital to Birmingham
The UK’s first digital pharmacy which offers a same-day medication delivery service is launching in Birmingham – its first pharmacy hub outside of London.
Phlo digital pharmacy will be providing Birmingham residents with the facility to request prescriptions with a 4-hour, same-day delivery time slot and also gives regular updates and live tracking for a convenient pharmacy experience.
The company is part of the Digital Health London Accelerator Programme’s 2021 cohort. It aims to tackle the issue of prescription wastage, adherence and access to medication and supports the NHS Long Term Plan for local pharmacies to provide services. The service will also lead to better out-of-hours care for acute medical scenarios where timely access to medication is vital.

The solution allows patients to chose their delivery location which means prescriptions can be sent anywhere within the same-day delivery zone, whether it’s work or home. A live map makes the process fully trackable. Being able to manage prescriptions via an app will save users time as prescriptions are sent directly from GPs to Phlo via the Electronic Prescription Service.

The service first launched in London in early 2020, and enabled repeat and acute prescriptions to be ordered via the Phlo app, for speedy delivery. For those out of reach from the London or Birmingham hubs, the registered NHS pharmacy also offers a UK-wide mail order service with 24-hour and 48-hour delivery.
