A health tech company that was selected for the DigitalHealth.London accelerator programme has been acquired by NEC Software Solutions.

Vantage Health, an AI platform that transforms referrals, was acquired by Northgate Public Services (NPS), who has since rebranded as NEC Software Solutions. At the end of 2020, Vantage Health was announced as one of 20 organisations selected to take part in the flagshop accelerator programme designed to drive innovation within the NHS.

The move to NEC will bring Vantage Health’s Rego digital solution under the global brand. Rego is an AI-powered referral system that ensures that patients are directed to the right care, the first time. It does this by reviewing referrals against local criteria and pathways and is compatible with the NHS e-referral service (eRS). It is used in the NHS by GPs, dentists and opticians and supports effective outpatient transformation as set out in the Long-Term Plan.

Co-founder of Vantage Health, David Ezra, said: “It’s never been more important for the NHS and healthcare services to have efficient solutions that work. Joining forces with NPS is exciting. It brings together a shared vision for transforming the way healthcare is delivered to offer the best care for patients.”

This latest move helps strengthen NEC’s preventative health offering. It has already helped screen 10m babies for the Newborn Hearing Screen in England and Northern Ireland and tested 500,000 patients with diabetes for retina damage.

Tina Whitley, CEO of NEC, added: “Combining Vantage Health’s ability to transform outpatient care with our expertise of managing successful health screening programmes like hearing and diabetic eye screening, means we can give healthcare providers the tools they need to quickly identify patients who need specialist services and then help them direct the patient to the right support service instantly.”
