Northamptonshire Care Record goes live in first pilot areas

Northamptonshire Health and Care Partnership has announced the Northamptonshire Care Record has been launched across a number of pilot sites.

The first live data in the system is being pulled from the majority of general practices in the region, and will be followed later this month with all data from Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Data from Northampton General Hospital and Kettering General Hospital are set to follow shortly after.

Shared care records are able to facilitate a broader range of patient information at the point of care and provide a wider overview of a patient’s needs.

Work is also happening to incorporate data from East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust for patients taken to acute hospitals, to ensure that there is additional rich data that can be used to support high quality patient care.

In addition, plans are being made to enhance the holistic care record by incorporating social care information as well.

Professor Andrew Chilton, chair of the Northamptonshire Care Record Programme Board, said: “The importance of the new Northamptonshire Care Record to the way we provide health and care services in our county is not to be underestimated – it’s a huge step forward.”

Northamptonshire selected Graphnet Health to provide the shared care record back in July 2020.

As wider datasets become available, access to the record will be further rolled out.

Northamptonshire joins Coventry and Warwickshire and Greater Manchester, to name just two areas, who have deployed an integrated record to support high quality patient care.
