Movers and Shakers news roundup

Our August Movers and Shakers features a number of appointments which includes The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board, Orion Health and many more.


Ayesha Rahim has been appointed chief medical information officer (CMIO) at Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. Rahim, who was previously chief clinical information officer (CCIO) at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, began her new role on 1 August 2022.


NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (ICB) has a new chief strategy and transformation officer. Caroline Morison will join the ICB in autumn 2022.


The deputy chief information officer (CIO) at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, David Newey, has become the interim CIO. Newey took on the position from August 2022 following the departure of Lisa Emery.


Jacqueline Cox was appointed chief nursing information officer (CNIO) at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in July 2022.


NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes ICB has appointed Mark Thomas as its chief digital and information officer (CDIO).


The previous director for digital productivity at NHSX is now CIO at Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust. Mark Jones joined the trust in July 2022.


Zishan Yousef has been appointed CCIO for primary care at NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board. Yousef started his new role in July 2022 and was previously the Digital Health IT lead.


Amy Vercell has been appointed CCIO for nursing and allied health professionals at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.


South Central and West Commissioning Support Unit has appointed Simon Sturgeon as its CDIO and Michael Knight as its chief technology officer.


Orion Health has announced Brad Porter will take over the CEO role from Ian McCrae in late August 2022.

Brad Porter was previously the general manager for international sales commercial at Fisher and Paykel Healthcare.

He takes over from McCrae who has served as Orion Health’s CEO for the last 30 years.

Porter said: “No one understands the specialised needs of digital health like Orion Health, it’s the global leader in population health technology and health data science.

“Orion Health has the world’s number one digital health platform and is innovating game-changing new technology like the Digital Front Door which puts people at the heart of healthcare. I can’t wait to join the immensely talented team and lead the next revolution of healthcare.”


Interoperability provider, ReStart, has appointed Andy Meiner as its chief revenue officer.

He joins from specialist PAS provider Silverlink Software, where he served as managing director and chief commercial officer from 2021–2022.

Other previous roles include managing director for Stalis (2014-2020) and Cambio Healthcare Systems (2020-2021).

Mike Symers, managing director at ReStart, said: “Andy will be working with our customers to elevate and assist at a more strategic level than ever before. Historically, we would quote for work based on the requirements of a range of small or large projects.

“Now we hope to work with ICS board members on strategic goals to really drive the information requirements to help power organisations toward their patient and organisational outcomes.”
