Chris Wigley confirmed as Digital Health AI and Data keynote speaker
- 13 July 2023
Chris Wigley, CEO of Genomics England, has been confirmed as a keynote speaker for day one of the inaugural Digital Health AI and Data.
Wigley will speak on the Data and Research Stage, sharing his views on the role of secure research environments, central to the NHS’ Data Saves Lives strategy, for transforming NHS services and power life-saving research and treatments.
The former McKinsey executive and AI specialist leads the remarkable work of Genomics England in advancing genomic medicine to help NHS doctors and clinicians treat and prevent illnesses, such as rare diseases and cancer.
The organisation evolved from the world’s largest national sequencing programme and helped the NHS become the first healthcare system to offer whole genome sequencing in routine care.
Its work has expanded into providing diagnostics and technology to enhance genomic healthcare and streamline NHS patient care, as well as enabling scientific research via its large genomic database.
It was confirmed back in May that Wigley will be moving on from his role in late 2023 after four years with Genomics England, and will return to the private sector at the intersection of business building, healthcare and the latest AI capabilities.
AI and Data is the new conference from Digital Health, organisers of Rewired. The event, which runs 30-31 October at London’s Business Design Centre, is dedicated to exploring the potential impact of AI and data in UK healthcare.
The conference will include NHS case studies spanning AI, data and analytics, together with key health data research initiatives linking NHS organisations, suppliers and start-ups, universities, researchers and life sciences companies.
Registration is free to NHS, start-ups, researchers and public sector. Register here.
