Our latest Movers and Shakers roundup features a new CEO at West London NHS Trust and NHS England’s AI and digital workforce national clinical lead departing for Health Innovation Network.


Neill Moloney has been appointed as joint executive recovery director for the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System. He joins from NHS England, where he led a programme to improve urgent and emergency care for the last year. He was previously deputy chief executive at East Suffolk and North East Essex Foundation Trust.


InterSystems, a creative data technology provider dedicated to helping customers solve the most critical scalability, interoperability, and speed problems, have announced the appointment of Colin Henderson as country manager for its UK and Ireland business.

Henderson will assume his full role on 28 March, following the retirement of Chris Norton, who spent more than two decades in different roles in InterSystems.


Maria O’Brien has been appointed chief executive officer of West London NHS Trust. She will join the trust from Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) where she is currently chief nurse and deputy chief executive.


An interim chief executive with “a track record of improving patient care” has been appointed to take the reins at two Black Country NHS Trusts for the next six months.

Caroline Walker will take over at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust and The Royal Wolverhampton Trusts on 1 May, replacing Professor David Loughton CBE, who is retiring after 40 years in the NHS. She will steer the two organisations whilst recruitment for a permanent replacement continues.

Walker retired from her role as chief executive at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust (NWAFT) last year and has a wide portfolio of NHS acute experience.


Martin Holloway, senior independent director and non-executive director of the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, has been appointed by the Council of Governors as the new interim trust chair.


Michael Beckett has left his role as interim chief digital information officer at Medway NHS Foundation Trust. Previously he was interim director of IT between March 2020 and February 2023.


Hatim Abdulhussein has started a new position as chief officer at Health Innovation Network. This comes after he held the role of national clinical lead – AI and digital workforce at NHS England for the past 12 months.


Gurnak Singh Dosanjh as joined NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland ICB as deputy chief clinical information officer (CCIO).


The Medical Defence Union (MDU) has appointed Dr Caroline Fryar as professional services director to lead the team guiding, supporting, and defending healthcare professionals with ethical and medico-legal issues. Dr Fryar has worked at the MDU for seventeen years in various roles, most recently as director of medical services. She was previously a GP.


HealthTrust Europe, a leading procurement organisation and strategic supply chain partner for healthcare providers and the wider public sector, is delighted to announce the appointment of Emma James as its new Chief Commercial Officer, effective May 2024.
