Two Yorkshire trusts select Nervecentre as preferred EPR supplier
  • York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust have selected Nervecentre as their preferred electronic patient record (EPR) supplier
  • The contract to supply both trusts is expected to last 10 years
  • This brings the total number of acute trusts selecting the Nervecentre EPR to seven

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust have selected Nervecentre as their preferred electronic patient record (EPR) supplier.

Nervecentre was confirmed as the preferred bidder after scoring the highest in a joint tender process and is now set to provide its cloud-native EPR platform to both trusts in what is expected to be a 10-year contract.

No date has been announced for the EPR roll-out.

Each trust will deploy Nervecentre on the cloud-native platform, which has a modern software-as-a-service (SaaS) architecture, to enable integration with the wider care system whilst maintaining localised autonomy.

James Hawkins, chief digital and information officer at York and Scarborough, said: “Our goal is to provide modern, intuitive and mobile systems that will help our staff to provide excellent healthcare every day and continue to strive to provide an excellent patient experience every time.

“Over a hundred of our colleagues from York and Scarborough were involved in choosing Nervecentre, and we are delighted to partner with them on the next stage of our digital transformation journey”.

The EPR will give clinicians access to real-time patient records on mobile devices at the patient’s bedside, helping to deliver care safely and effectively.

The availability of accurate data is expected to drive service transformation at scale, facilitate system-level redesign, and empower clinicians to work across trusts.

Dr Jacqueline Andrews, executive medical director and executive lead for digital at Harrogate, added: “Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to be partnering with Nervecentre to implement our new integrated electronic patient record.

“Having the right information at the right time in a user friendly way will significantly improve our colleague and patient experience and the quality of care we can provide”.

Paul Volkaerts  chief executive at Nervecentre said: “We are thrilled to be chosen by York and Scarborough and Harrogate.

“This brings the total to seven acute trusts, with more than 8,000 beds between them, embracing Nervecentre’s cloud-native platform”.

Nervecentre have made significant process in the NHS EPR market in 2024, with Nottingham University Hospitals selecting the Nervecentre EPR in February 2024, and multi-year EPR contracts being signed with University Hospitals of Derby and Burton and Chesterfield Royal Hospital, and Northampton General Hospital.
