Health tech firm System C has announced the strategic acquisition of CIS Oncology, marking a significant expansion of its medicines management offerings.

CIS Oncology is known for its chemotherapy prescription and management system, ChemoCare, which accelerates and streamlines prescribing and patient management.

Once integrated, System C customers will be able to manage their entire prescription journey with a single unified experience through which clinicians and oncologists can prescribe chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy drugs.

The acquisition of the oncology technology company complements System C’s existing portfolio of electronic patient record (EPR), maternity and neonatal, prescribing and pharmacy solutions.

Nick Wilson, chief executive of System C, said: “We are delighted to welcome CIS Oncology to the System C family.

“This acquisition shows our commitment to delivering seamless care, prioritising patient and clinical safety, and forging stronger connections with our customers as they embrace digital solutions across health and social care.

“By integrating CIS Oncology’s expertise, we are now even better equipped to provide high-quality and cost-effective ePrescribing solutions that not only meet our customers’ needs but reinforce our dedication to the NHS and our UK-centric approach.

“We’re looking forward to working together with CIS Oncology to leverage our collective expertise to significantly transform healthcare and shape the future of patient care.”

CIS Oncology’s cancer informatics solutions streamline data management, enable precision medicine approaches, and facilitate coordinated care with the aim of empowering patients with personalised treatment plans and supporting multidisciplinary cancer teams to make well-informed decisions.

In early 2025, the company plans to launch ChemoPRO, an app which provides patients with instant access to their medical information and enables communication with healthcare professionals.

Tony Pegg, chief executive at CIS Oncology, said: “CIS Oncology Ltd has always been about working with our customers to improve patient outcomes in the safest and most efficient way possible.

“Joining forces with System C will strengthen that position across a broader offering to the NHS. We look forward to working together to continue helping the NHS and healthcare providers through further digitisation and, ultimately, ever improving patient outcomes.”

System C is actively engaged with the Automating 4 better care (A4BC) forum, chaired by Lord Carter, to define the priorities for medicines interoperability to feed into national funding prioritisation.

Earlier in 2024, System C announced the launch of its new look electronic patient record solution, CareFlow EPR, a fully integrated patient record solution that combines patient administration, clinical operations, maternity and neonatal capability, pharmacy and prescribing.
