NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) has signed technology firm N3i to help support the digital transformation of its primary care services.
It has signed a five-year contract, running from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2030, with N3i to provide relevant support services with a total value of between £22.7 million and £33.8 million.
The ICB has also engaged with NECS, a care system support organisation, alongside N3i to help achieve its digital ambitions in primary care.
A spokesperson for NHS Humber and North Yorkshire ICB told Digital Health News: “Innovation and digital solutions will be pivotal to the successful transformation of the NHS in the coming years and we are delighted to have engaged N3i and NECS to help us realise our ambitions in primary care and in our own organisation.
“Both N3i and NECS have strong track records, and we are confident they will deliver the innovation, resilience and performance we need across Humber and North Yorkshire, keeping us at the leading edge of what is likely to be a continued emphasis towards digital solutions and service integration.”
The contract award notice states that the company is expected to provide and deliver a “quality focused and resilience service model which operates in a sustainable, innovative and flexible way”.
Requirements for the service include providing 24/7 service support which is proactive and avoids the destabilising of any clinical services, ensuring all systems and associated infrastructure are securely operated and maintained.
It must also fully understand all local and national requirements and work closely with the ICB to help them plan better, discharge their statutory duties, and exploit technology and systems in support of the NHS transformation agenda.
N3i has worked with NHS Humber and North Yorkshire ICB, on projects including the implementation of a digital booking system and an emergency preparedness, resilience and response SharePoint site.
Dean Blakeman, head of business at N3i, said: “We are excited to have the opportunity to strengthen our partnership with Humber and North Yorkshire ICB, enabling us to provide integrated IT and digital support across the region.
“Over the past five years, N3i has established a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, resilient IT and digital services to primary care in the Humber area.
“This new contract marks an exciting milestone, allowing us to extend our expertise to North Yorkshire and York.
“We look forward to delivering modern GP IT services, including digital transformation and clinical system optimisation, to support healthcare providers and improve outcomes across the region.”
In October 2024, NHS Humber and North Yorkshire ICB rolled out the BadgetNet maternity electronic health record system from System C with the aim of enabling parents-to-be to access their pregnancy and maternity records.
Meanwhile, in June 2024, NHS England announced the cancellation of its £300m digital pathways framework, which was aimed at driving modern general practice model by connecting ICBs with approved suppliers for digital GP tools for messaging, consultations and care navigation.
