NHS SBS wins place on contract for provision of cloud-based tech

  • NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) has won a place on a national framework agreement for the provision of cloud-based services to all public sector organisations, including the NHS

  • NHS SBS has been awarded a place on all three lots of the framework agreement, covering cloud hosting, cloud software and cloud cloud support

NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) has won a place on a major new national framework agreement for the provision of cloud-based services to all public sector organisations, including the NHS.

The latest iteration of the G-Cloud 14 Framework Agreement, created and hosted by the Crown Commercial Service, runs until 28 April 2026.

It gives customers a compliant and straightforward means to purchase services using a catalogue of cloud hosting, cloud software and additional support services, all of which are available as off-the-shelf, pay-as-you-go solutions, to further simplify the buying process.

As well as the NHS, the framework covers the provision of cloud-based services to education, central government and local authorities in the UK and British overseas territories.

NHS SBS has been awarded a place on all three lots of the framework agreement, enabling NHS customers access to digital and data-driven solutions including:

  • Lot 1 – Cloud hosting – Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
  • Lot 2 – Cloud software – RPA and intelligent automation, cloud tech
  • Lot 3 – Cloud support – includes business change and transformation, carbon mapping; end to end support for Finance, procurement and HR back office; and common data model service

The Department of Health and Social Care created NHS SBS in 2004 by to deliver corporate services to the NHS. The joint venture with Sopra Steria is aimed at making life easier for NHS employees, patients and suppliers, and delivering value for money to the taxpayer.

NHS SBS launched its Digital Health Advisory Services framework agreement in March 2024 to help the NHS augment the digital, data and technology skills and capabilities of its workforce.

In September 2024, NHS SBS published a contract notice for the Digital Workplace Solutions 2 framework, worth £2.5 billion, which is intended to connect NHS organisations and public sector buyers that wish to use the agreement with suppliers of core computing hardware infrastructure, as well as both tailored and generic software tools.
