Croydon Health Services NHS Trust has published a tender notice seeking re-implementation and support for the maternity element of its Cerner Millennium (Oracle Health) electronic patient record (EPR).

The trust states in the contract notice, published on 5 February 2025, that it is looking to “uplift” the maternity element of the EPR to “target improvements to usage and data quality issues with the current platform”.

It adds that the uplift “will be across the whole maternity department including community, and opportunities to digitise legacy systems are to be availed of”.

A spokesperson from Croydon Health Services NHS Trust told Digital Health News: “Since the implementation of Millennium EPR for maternity in 2015, we have continually looked to improve how we deliver care to expectant parents.

“Our clinical and digital teams are working closely together to ensure they have the tools to make these improvements, as well as delivering on changes to national requirements for data reporting.”

The procurement is an evolution of the trust’s existing maternity module in order to align with the latest standards and ensure the highest quality of care.

The contract is valued at £200,000 and runs between 11 April 2025 and 10 October 2025, with the delivery target for the trust being “as soon as possible subject to the safe and effective implementation of the solution”.

The submission deadline for interested suppliers is 1pm on 7 March 2025 via the Atamis e-Commercial Portal.

Meanwhile, the Welsh government announced in January 2025 that an electronic health record (EHR) and app will be rolled out across the country to enable mothers-to-be to access their full maternity records instantly.

The Badger Net app from System C, which provides tailored updates after appointments and messages, alongside the EHR is expected to be available in across Wales by March 2026.

Other areas to roll out maternity EPRs include University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust which rolled out the BadgerNet EPR and Badger Notes online portal in its maternity services in June 2024 and NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, which rolled out the BadgerNet maternity EHR in October 2024.
