North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) has signed a 10-year contract with Alcidion to roll out its Miya Precision electronic patient record (EPR) at the trust.
The full Miya Precision platform will enable mobile working, streamline patient flow, support clinical decision-making processes and provide clinicians with real-time access to a unified patient record.
Dr Adrian Clements, executive medical director at NCIC, said: “Our partnership with Alcidion and the introduction of the Miya Precision EPR platform marks a significant step forward in transforming how we deliver patient care at NCIC.
“This innovative, user-friendly system will streamline workflows, reduce duplication, and provide our teams with the tools they need to focus on what matters most – our patients.
“By integrating cutting-edge technology, we are not just keeping pace with modern healthcare, but setting a standard for safer, smarter, and more efficient care delivery.”
The confirmation of the 10-year contract follows a July 2024 announcement in which NCIC named Alcidion as the preferred bidder for its EPR.
Miya Precision will support care delivery across emergency, inpatient and outpatient services.
Clinical workflows will be complemented by the availability of a real-time patient flow management capability and extensive clinical documentation functionality that is designed to support all clinical roles in documenting patient care.
The use of the cloud-hosted, web-based solution will be extended through the provision of a smartphone based mobile app that will give care teams access to the full patient record.
Kate Quirke, chief executive and managing director at Alcidion, said: “Securing this long-term contract with NCIC is a significant step for the trust and demonstrates the value a modern, modular EPR platform can bring to healthcare systems.
“Miya Precision has a strong reputation for supporting clinicians to digitise their workflows and improve care outcomes for patients, and we are excited to deliver this for NCIC.
“For Alcidion, this contract represents a key milestone in our efforts to support major healthcare providers with market-leading digital health solutions.
“The emergence of smarter, more focused electronic patient record infrastructure is being widely accepted as an essential part of clinical workflow and patient care, globally, and we remain committed to continuous improvement and world-class innovation in this space.”
The agreement extends Alcidion’s footprint in the North East North Cumbria region, with Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust currently using the Miya Precision Patient Administration System module, and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust using the EPR platform.
