Nominations for digital health leaders to join the Digital Health advisory panels open today for the 2025-2027 term.
The advisory panels are groups of digital health leaders who work collaboratively to shape the future of digital health leadership, represent their peers on national platforms, and drive innovation and improvement across the NHS.
There are three advisory panels for clinical chief information officers (CCIOs), chief information officers (CIOs) and chief nursing information officers (CNIOs).
Lauren Hoodless, head of networks at Digital Health, said that the advisory panels “play a crucial role in helping to shape the future of digital health leadership”.
“We are encouraging digital leaders to nominate themselves or a colleague for this unique opportunity to influence national conversations, represent their peers, and drive meaningful change across the NHS.
“This role is more than just leadership, it’s about collaboration, innovative thinking, and making an impact,” Hoodless said.
Advisory panel members serve a two-year term, in which they participate in monthly virtual meetings, quarterly in-person sessions, and lead community activity and initiatives, such as mentoring future digital leaders, participating in in-person events, webinars and podcasts, and writing blogs and white papers.
Misbah Mahmood, chief information officer at Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The Digital Health Networks has been pivotal in shaping my career as a digital health leader.
“As the first midwife to join the CNIO Advisory Panel (CNIO AP), the network has always provided support, guidance and most importantly, a network of some brilliant digital health leaders”.
Nominations close on 11 April 2025. The candidate list will be published and voting will take place between 21 April and 16 May, with results announced after 19 May.
Antonia Frost, CNIO at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Being part of the CNIO AP has been an incredible opportunity to collaborate with like-minded digital leaders, influence key conversations, and drive meaningful change in healthcare.
“The panel has provided a platform to share ideas, shape initiatives, and connect with innovators across the sector.
“Through this, I’ve been able to contribute to discussions that impact frontline digital transformation, champion innovation, and help bridge the gap between technology and patient care.
“It’s been a truly rewarding experience, and I’d encourage anyone passionate about digital health to get involved.”
Penny Kechagioglou, CCIO and deputy chief medical officer at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, said: “I joined because I’m passionate about digital health, innovation and engaging healthcare professionals, connecting them with industry and innovators for the purpose of advancing digital transformation.
“It is also important to be the voice of healthcare professionals, share knowledge and build digital communities of best practice as well as influence health policy through the Digital Health Networks.”
All members of the Digital Health Networks are eligible to vote.
You can submit a nomination online by providing contact details, a short bio and a manifesto explaining your qualifications and goals as a panel member.
Candidate manifestos and bios will be published on the online discussion forum for Networks members to review.
