Nominations have opened for the Digital Health Awards 2025, offering outstanding digital leaders the chance to be recognised for their contribution to shaping the future of NHS healthcare.

The awards, organised by Digital Health Networks, celebrate innovation, dedication and excellence across the healthcare landscape, recognising the achievements of senior NHS IT leaders and upcoming trailblazers who are driving transformation.

Held as part of the annual Digital Health Summer Schools event, the awards will take place on 17 July 2025 at the University of Warwick during the evening gala dinner.

The judges will be looking for compelling examples of leadership, innovation, and measurable impact in each of the following categories:

  • Chief clinical information officer (CCIO) of the Year
  • Chief information officer (CIO) of the Year
  • Chief nursing information officer (CNIO) of the Year
  • Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) of the Year
  • Rising Star

This year’s awards will be judged by representatives from the across the CCIO, CIO and CNIO Advisory Panels, as well as members of the CSO and ISC Digital Councils, ensuring a diverse and expert perspective in selecting the most impactful and inspiring digital leaders in health and care.

Lauren Hoodless, head of networks at Digital Health, said: “We’re proud to be celebrating the Digital Health Awards 2025 as part of this year’s Summer Schools, shining a spotlight on the exceptional digital leaders transforming health and care across the NHS.

“Whether you’re nominating a peer or putting yourself forward, this is your chance to honour those making a real difference.

“Join us on Thursday 17 July at the University of Warwick to celebrate the very best in digital health leadership.”

Submissions for the Digital Health Awards can be made by an individual nominating themselves or a colleague.

Those being nominated for an award must:

  • Be members of the Digital Health Networks.
  • Be a CCIO, CIO, CNIO, CSO, future digital leader or a team currently working in the field of digital health and social care or use technology in your daily work.
  • Work for the NHS, public sector, third sector providers, in charitable sectors, or as an academic or researcher.
  • Demonstrate how the nominee meets the category criteria using evidence to support reasons.

Applications are subject to registering to attend Summer Schools 2025. The three finalists from each category will receive a complimentary ticket for the awards dinner and a 20% discount on their attendance ticket for the event which will be applied to their booking once confirmed as a finalist.

Ramandeep Kaur, group CCIO at University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group and 2024 CCIO of the Year, said: “It was truly humbling to be the first pharmacist to receive the Digital Health Networks award for CCIO of the Year.

“The recognition went beyond personal achievement as for me it showcased how important it was to break barriers and reminded me anything is possible.”

Nominations open on 14 April and will close on 9 May 2025.

Voting will then take place between 21 May and 10 June 2025 before all applicants are notified and finalists announced during the week commencing 16 June 2025.
