Our August Movers and Shakers includes the news that Paul Charnley has joined Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership and a number of appointments at the Northern Health Science Alliance.


Paul Charnley has joined the Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership as their digital lead. Charnley was formerly the CIO at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and he left the trust in July 2020.


Kathy Murphy has been appointed deputy head of design and delivery for the EPR at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. She took on her new role in July 2020 and had previously been the change manager.


Cindy Fedell has been appointed as the executive chief digital and information officer at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.

Fedell joined the trust in May 2020 in addition to her role as chief digital and information officer at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust; a role which she has held since 2013.


Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust has appointed Daryl Chapman as its chief finance officer.

Chapman had been serving as the chief finance officer an interim basis since October 2017. Prior to that, he held finance director roles with a variety of private sector companies, and most recently spending 16 months working as finance lead for the Norfolk and Waveney Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP).

He said: “I look forward to continuing to work closely with my NSFT colleagues and our health and care partners to make the best possible use of the resources we have available while responding to the ongoing financial challenges faced by the NHS.”


Angela Single has joined the Europe, the Middle East and Africa Sales Team at Bridgehead Software as the new director of new business development.

Single will be based in the UK and has previously led digital transformation at Cambridge and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust and acted as an advisory board member for Addenbrookes Hospital NHS Trust.

In her new role, she will be responsible for identifying, assessing and developing new business opportunities across the NHS for BridgeHead’s Independent Clinical Archive (ICA), HealthStore.


The Northern Health Science Alliance (NHSA) has almost doubled its team with six new appointments over the last few months.

They are:

  • Dr Sunil Nedungayil, sssociate medical director (Healthy Ageing)
  • Helen Cole, industry partnerships manager
  • Mhairi Murdoch, events and visits officer
  • Vanessa Nolan, administrative officer
  • Sean Collins, senior designer
  • Ruth Lawson, communications manager

The appointments come at an important time for the NHSA following the start of multimillion-pound Research England-funded partnership project between the NHSA and MedCity earlier this year, which will improve the visibility of UK life sciences expertise on the international stage.

Dr Séamus O’Neill, chief executive at the NHSA, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Sunil, Helen, Mhairi, Vanessa, Sean and Ruth to the NHSA team during an exciting period of growth for the organisation.

“Each team member brings a valuable set of skills to the table and they will all play an important role as the NHSA continues to work towards building a healthy and prosperous North through health research and innovation excellence.”


Epro has announced the appointment of Dr. Francesca Leithold as its new chief operating officer, responsible for delivery of services across the company’s NHS client base.

Dr Leithold will be responsible for the overall delivery of infrastructure, deployment, customer support, and project management.

She said: “After over six years at Epro, I have seen first-hand the dedication of everyone here. I’m looking forward to building upon the momentum as we continue to grow and respond to our clients’ Covid-19 and general needs.

“I believe Epro has one of the best informatic offerings on the market right now. The NHS is a vital part of our society, and now I have more opportunities to support it.”


Draper and Dash (D&D) today announced that it has appointed David Bolton as chief revenue officer.

In his new role, David will direct D&D’s global go-to-market strategy and execution, guiding worldwide sales, services, and other go-to-market operations organisations to meet and exceed growth objectives.

Bolton said: “I look forward to working with our teams and customers to advance D&D’s mission of transforming healthcare and industry through the power of advanced predictive data and insights. We will enhance our customers’ experience as we take our performance to the next level and drive greater value for our shareholders.”
