Our latest Movers and Shakers roundup features a new interim group CIO at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Sam Shah’s appointment at ORCHA.

Joanna Smith is to be the interim group CIO at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. Smith has previously been the interim CIO at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust, a role she has held since June 2020.

Smith wrote on Twitter that her new role is a “fantastic opportunity”.

Paul Gates has joined East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust as deputy clinical director, emphasising on clinical effectiveness and transformation.

Announcing his new role on Twitter, Gates said he was “looking forward to moving back to where my career started and the new challenges”.

ORCHA has announced that Sam Shah, has joined as chief clinical digital advisor.

Sam will work with ORCHA’s team of clinical leads, comprising of experts from across a broad range of medical fields, including cardiology, diabetes and ophthalmology. The medical team ensure clinical effectiveness and practice is considered and built into every ORCHA solution, meeting the needs and priorities of healthcare professionals.

Shah said: “mHealth can make a massive difference to citizens. Its targeted approach, working within someone’s life, offers a new sustainable approach to healthcare and means mHeath is here to stay.

Doctor Care Anywhere (DCA) has appointed Michael Lord as its new head of sales and account management. Lord will lead on delivering new customer propositions and managing key client accounts.

His previous experience includes commercial contracts director and sales director at Nuffield Health, and head of procurement at Aviva Health UK.

Lord said: “I am very excited to be joining Doctor Care Anywhere, a business that is at the forefront of healthcare innovation and whose clinical care is greatly valued by its patients.
