Our next roundup of contracts and go lives in the world of Digital Health features news from Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and a number of deals for Cerner.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ selects Nuance

The most recent go-live has been this week when it was announced Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust had chosen Nuance to deliver speech recognition technology.

The AI computer software company’s Dragon Medical One software will be integrated with the trust’s Epic electronic health record. This will allow more than 10,000 clinicians to compile clinical documentation and navigate patient records using their voice instead of typing.

Electronic health record to be developed at East Lancashire

April has also seen East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust sealing a deal with Cerner to implement an electronic health record.

The Cerner Millennium platform will replace paper-based records and other electronic processes and will create a single source of clinical information.

It will provide clinicians with instant and secure access to a patient’s history and treatments and, as result, will help them make better and informed decisions based on specific patient needs.

Two London trusts sign up with Cerner

It has been a busy month for Cerner as it also reported London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust and The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have signed an agreement to implement an integrated electronic health record.

The agreement will see the two organisations join the Cerner Millennium EHR platform which is already in use at neighbouring Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

It marks the first time four English trusts have been brought together on one platform and forms part of the North West London Integrated Care System (ICS).

CCGs awards IT support contract

April also saw a group of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight selecting Healthcare Computing, in partnership with NHS Arden & Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (Arden & GEM) to provide GP IT support services.

Due to go live in July 2021, the contract covers the provision of support to 228 GP sites with services including: IT support and service desk, IT equipment and asset management, software and license management, NHS Mail administration and support, IT infrastructure, server management, clinical systems, cyber security, information governance as well as management of the Health and Social Care Network (including Wi-Fi).

NHS Digital agrees deal to digitise Covid testing

The start of the month began with NHS Digital penning a deal with Scandit which will see the digitisation of the Covid-testing process.

The deal means NHS organisations will have access to Scandit’s technology to support Covid-related services such as test-tracking, PPE tracking and patient care until 30 November 2021.
