Digital Health Networks 60 Second Profiles: Elf Eggiman

We have gone international for our next Digital Health Networks 60 Second Profile. Elf Eggiman, who is a clinical informatics analyst at healthAlliance NZ, explains more about her role and reveals her favourite piece of technology.

Could you explain what your role entails?

I often say its a little bit like working in a state of ambiguity with ability to deploy to demands as and when required (never more so than in the year 2020).

As a health informatics analyst I combine digital knowledge and clinical understanding. The soft skills in this space are particularly important as a major aspect of the role is relationship management and acting as a translator between technology services and clinical services.

What parts of digital health interest you the most?

It is the ability to connect across any space and through this the potential phenomenal acceleration of health, the promise that the future will provide better care for people, all people including clinicians on the front line.

What projects are you currently involved in?

Data and information strategy for health and disability, consumer access to health information, supporting the Covid technology response and any other random projects which require an informatics lens (might change weekly)

If you could have any other job, what would it be?

Hmmmm, I think I might have liked to be a diplomat.

If you have one piece of advice for other digital health leaders, what would it be?

I would not call myself a ‘leader’ by any sense of the word but I think the most important aspect of being part of health informatics is the knowledge that we are all one team, co-design is the pathway to long lasting, embedded and trusted change and we are collectively greater than the sum of our individual abilities.

What’s your favourite piece of technology at home and why?

The internet! Knowledge…

Who would you like to play you in a film?

Um, somebody funny?
